A GREAT ESCAPE....From 11th February 2017 onwards
Escape boredom this February by watching London’s original escapologist as he plots his next escape from the London Dungeon. Before Houdini there was Jack Shepherd, a petty thief who infamously escaped not one, not two….but four prisons (!!!) by breaking through ceilings to picking locks.
Guests visiting the London Dungeon from February will journey back to 1724 to come face-to-face with Jack at Newgate prison – where he has been caught by the thief catcher for the fifth time. He’s being held in chains and is ready to be hung as no prison can keep hold of him. Guests will hear from the audacious convict as he tells the tales of escaping from four prisons with the help of his love, Bess and his handy carpentry skills. After hearing his tales guests will be left wondering if they are watching the showman in action or have become part of his latest escape plan…Will Jack face his fate or make one last getaway?
- London Dungeon only opens at 11am on Thursdays.
- Drop Ride is closed for maintenance from 16th April until 3rd May 2018.
The Tavern is the London Dungeon’s all new Victorian pub experience!
With a front row seat at the heart of this unique, storytelling experience you will be transported back to a vibrant, decadent and dodgy pub of 1896, where the gossip and scandal surrounding the local scoundrels, villains and working girls unravels around you.
Enjoy a tipple of bootleg beer, a Gin cocktail or traditional lemonade served up by our boastful East End Landlady and henpecked Landlord, as they compete to berate each other to anyone who’ll listen.
This all new show, adds an exhilarating finale to The London Dungeon, where for the first time, you decide which story you see!
What is The Tavern’?
A major permanent expansion, The London Dungeon Tavern will transport you to a vibrant, decadent and decidedly dodgy Victorian pub.
In the authentically recreated tavern, you will hear, feel, smell, see and truly LIVE the drama in a 360 degree fully themed set - and no two tables will get quite the same experience.
The show will feature two key characters and guests will receive one drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) upon arrival into The Tavern which is included in the price of their ticket.
Where is ‘The Tavern’?
The Tavern is located at the end of the experience after Drop Dead: Drop Ride to Doom.
As this is at the end of the tour, guests can decide to stay as long as they like and are able to purchase more drinks if they decide to do so.
Feel the heat as London Burns!!!
A major new multi-sensory experience packing a historical punch and plenty of heat will get pulses racing and temperatures rising at the London Dungeon. Marking the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, ‘Escape the Great Fire’ will recreate the drama of one of the world’s most famous disasters with live actors, themed settings and sizzling special effects.
Guests will be transported back to London’s Great Fire (2 September 1666). The sparks from Thomas Farriner’s bakery in Pudding Lane have set the packed timber houses of London alight and the city has become a raging inferno. The flames are so hot cooked pigeons are dropping out of the sky, the streets are running with molten lead and St Paul’s is burning to the ground. Londoners are fleeing the Capital, piling into boats on the river to escape the destruction as panic sweeps the city. Intrepid guests will find sanctuary in the house of the Lord Mayor and meet his faithful servant whilst the carnage unfolds outside.
Boom! The deafening sound of gunpowder explosions suddenly fills the air and screams ring out in the nearby streets: the firefighters are blowing up houses to stop the fire spreading – and the Mayor’s house is next! As the heat rises and the stifling smell of smoke permeates the air, the flames begin to creep under the door, quickly engulfing the room as the house begins to collapse. Guests will need all their wits to escape un-singed!
