There are two routes for you to explore (Red Line and Blue Line) which means there are plenty of stops along the way for you to take a more in depth look at the major landmarks and also whatever catches your eye! Simply hop back on at your leisure.

The Red Line lets you cruise through the city’s must-see landmarks including the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Circus Maximus. There are 8 stops along the way for you to hop off the bus to visit any these attractions in greater detail.

The Hop-on, hop-off function enables you get on and off all around the city so you can visit the exciting places at your leisure and then re-join the tour when you are finished.

Our free walking tours are led by friendly Big Bus tour guides, who will take you on an exciting, informative walking tour that visits some of the city's most famous landmarks. These walks are exclusively reserved for Big Bus Tours Rome guests and are included free with your Big Bus Tours ticket.

Please note that walking tours do not include admission to landmarks or attractions. If you have further questions about our walking tours, please speak to a Big Bus Tours staff member.

Pantheon & Piazza Navona  Beginning near the Vatican, this walking tour will take you to some of Rome's most important landmarks: the Pantheon and Piazza Navona Stop #6: Vatican (Lungotevere Tor Di Nona)  2:00pm
Barberini Square & Spanish Steps Starting at Barberini Square, you'll visit the famed Spanish Steps and the Barcaccia fountain. The tour ends at The Hard Rock Cafe Rome.

Catacombs & Caracalla Route

Exclusive to Big Bus Rome

Our Catacombs & Caracalla Circuit (Purple Route) takes you south of the city to explore one of the world's most famous roads: the ancient Appian Way. You'll pass the catacombs of St. Callixtus, St. Sebastian and Domitilla, and the ruins of the Caracalla Baths, with the opportunity to hop off from any stop to explore at your leisure. Please note that admission to the Catacombs is not included with this ticket, and the Catacombs are closed between December 1 - January 2.

This ticket includes: 3 day Hop on Hop off Tour, valid for travel for 72 hours after the first use, Catacombs & Caracella tour route, Night Tour and 4 walking tours. 

Routes:

Red Line: Operates Monday to Saturday all year round. The route has 8 stops starting at Termini Railway Station and runs every 15-20 minutes from approximately 9am until 7pm between April and October and 6pm between November and March, the tour lasts approx. 90 minutes. Voucher can be redeemed at any of the stops, Big Bus Rome Termini or Colosseum Kiosks. Hours of operation are 9am -7pm (April to October) and 9am – 6pm (November to March).

Catacombs Line (Purple Route): Operates daily all year round. The route has 10 stops starting at Termini Railway Station and runs every 50 minutes from approximately 9am until 5pm between April and October and 4:15pm between November and March, the tour lasts approx. 90 minutes. Voucher can be redeemed at any of the stops, Big Bus Rome Termini or Colosseum Kiosks. Hours of operation are 9am -7pm (April to October) and 9am – 6pm (November to March).

Panoramic Night Tour

See the eternal city sparkle after dark on our new panoramic night tour of Rome. Join us for an hour to see wold-famous landmarks like the Colosseum, the Vatican and the Piazza Venezia illuminated as dusk falls.
Please note: Our Night Tour is not a hop-on, hop-off tour.

Please Note: Timings are always subject to change and traffic dependent so please do check with a member of Big Bus Staff locally if you are unsure. 

Child Information: Child age is 5-15 years. Anyone under 5 years old travels free of charge as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult (1 adult to 1 child) and so long as they do not occupy a seat to the detriment of fare paying passengers.

Walking Tours: Piazza Barberini & Spanish Steps Walking Tour – Start time is subject to change, please refer to the printed brochures on the buses; Pantheon & Piazza Navona Walking Tour – Tour begins at stop #6 and operates daily at 2pm. The tour takes 1 hour; Roman Forum & Colosseum Walking Tour – Tour begins at stop #5 and operates daily at 3.30pm. The tour takes 1 hour; Vatican Walking Tour – Tour begins at stop #6 and operates daily at 12pm. The tour takes 1 hour.
