This tour is a relaxing break in the beautiful Aegean that combines swimming and a BBQ on a secluded beach with the crater on Nisyros Island and the charming narrow streets of Mandraki.
Leaving Kefalos, which is located in the south of the Island, behind you and heading towards two picturesque islands on a traditional fishing boat. The first one, Agios Antonios is set just across from Giali where pumice is extracted and can only be reached by boat. After docking, guests can enjoy the beachand the clear shallow waters. There is also a small chapel on top of the hill that offers a nice panoramic view of the area. Lunch is served aboard before setting sail once again to the next island.
Nisyros is its name, and is famous for its active volcano. The boat arrives in Mandraki, the main town on this small island that has kept its traditional Greek charm. Buses are ready to take you up to the Caldera which, with its 4km width, is one of the biggest in Europe. The lunar landscape is unusual.
You can down by foot into the crater and discover the volcanic activity from close by; yellow crystals created by the sulphurous steam, holes in the bottom and the unmistakable odor of Sulphur.
After this unique experience, buses will bring you back to the harbour and you will have free time to explore and enjoy the typical authentic Greek atmosphere. Optionally you can also explore the Agia Spyliani Monastery and be amazed by the spectacular views that the top offers, although it is a little climb of 129 steps to reach it. Instead of this you could enjoy a stroll through the narrow streets of the town.
