Founded in 1066 by William the Conqueror, The Tower of London  has seen over 1000 years of murder, plots, mystery and intrigue played out within its stone walls. As well as being home to the Crown Jewels, the Tower also boasts 500 years of spectacular royal armour as well as the jet black ravens that still guard its walls to this day...

The Tower of London is one of the most famous and historic landmarks of England’s capital city.  The whole family can discover a wealth of British history, from the iconic Beefeaters, the famous Ravens and the White Tower to an exhibition of over five hundred years of Royal armour. This is just a taster of what you can expect to discover on your visit:

The Crown Jewels: Prepare to be seriously dazzled! The Crown Jewels are comprised of 23,578 gems, including the world’s most famous diamonds. This amazing collection is in the Jewel House.

Royal Beasts: For over 600 years, various exotic animals were held captive at the Tower. Here you’ll discover their extraordinary stories and find out what life was like for them in the Royal Menagerie.

The White Tower: The White Tower is one of the most important historic buildings in the world, and is an iconic symbol of London and Britain.

Fit for a King Marvel at a display of 500 years of spectacular royal armour, giving a fascinating insight into the personalities, power and physical size of England’s kings.

The Tower's Ravens: Legend has it that the Tower and indeed the kingdom will fall if the six ravens ever leave the Tower. These ravens have become one of the Tower's most celebrated and famous sights.

Prisoners Exhibition: Prisoners have been held at the Tower almost since it was first built, and this new interactive display helps both children and adults to discover their stories.

Go Medieval at the Tower: From 4th until 6th August 2018, step in to a Medieval world and join in the festivities as the new Queen Maragaret of Anjou arrives. Feel the weight of a real knight's sword, have a go at firing a crossbow and much more.

• Carers of disabled visitors are admitted free of charge into the Tower and do not require a prepurchased ticket.
• Please present this voucher at the Group Sales Office at the HM Tower of London which is located in the building next to the general public ticket office, in exchange for entry into the Tower. ALL customers must enter the Tower through Security Gates. Queuing for this is unavoidable for ALL visitors.
• At busy times, queues are likely to form within the Tower. If visiting during school holidays or in the summer, please allow more time to fully explore the Tower.
• Please note that on Wednesday 23 May 2018, the Tower will close early. Last admission will be at 4pm, with the buildings and exhibitions closing at 4.30pm.

A Yeoman Warder tour is one of the most popular attractions for visitors to the Tower. Join one of these famous tours where Yeoman Warders (popularly known as ‘Beefeaters’) will entertain you with tales of intrigue, imprisonment, execution, torture and much more…

The tours begin every 30 mins (last tour 15.30 in summer, 14.30 in winter). Tours last approximately 60 mins and start near the main entrance.

Included in palace admission ticket at no extra charge – alternatively visitors can purchase an audio guide locally for £4 per adult and £3 per child.

• November-February: Tuesday-Saturday 9AM-4.30PM and Sunday-Monday 10AM-4.30PM (last admission 4PM).
• March-October: Tuesday-Saturday 9AM-5.30PM and Sunday-Monday 10AM-5.30PM (last admission 5PM).
• All internal buildings close 30 minutes after the last admission.
• The last Yeoman Warder tour starts at 2.30PM (winter), 3.30PM (summer).

Duration: We recommend visitors allow at least 3 hours to see everything. The Tower becomes very busy during school holidays, including half terms. At busy times, queues are likely to form within the Tower. If visiting during school holidays or in the summer, please allow more time to fully explore the Tower.

The Chapel Royal of St. Peter ad Vincula is a working community chapel and can sometimes close during opening hours. It is used for Sunday services and occasional weekend ceremonies. If you are visiting specifically to see the Chapel, we recommend that you check before purchasing tickets.

Accessibility: This historic building has places with difficult stairs and passageways and wheelchair access is limited. There are also a large number of steps throughout the Tower with cobbles laid in some of the roads which make prove problematic to those with mobility difficulties. However, the Jewel House and the Crown Jewels are fully accessible to all visitors.
